Alene is a Contemporary dance duet about mental illness. The dance performance aims to draw attention towards a subject that throughout history has been quieted down in society and a subject many people find difficult to understand and to talk about. How do we relate to people who suffer from mental disease and what kind of responsibility do we have towards this group of people?
In this 40min show I composed music and did sound design. I mainly used Eurorack modular synthesiser to generate the sound material. Generative patches provided gestural sound textures to compliment the dancers moves. Aided with drum machine and groovebox improvisation, piece was structured around 6 themes varying in density of material (from ambient through beat-based dub to noise).

Two compositions I made for Marie Ronold Mathisen‘s choreography while she was studying in Northern School in Contemporary Dance in Leeds.
Both pieces performed in UK (Leeds, 2009) and Italy (Treviso, Trieste 2009). Dance-Text-Origin programmed on Futura Festival 2009 (France).
I used improvised sound material as a source for both compositions.
This is my first piece made for contemporary dance. The project I did in collaboration with Marie Ronold Mathisen – choreographer from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. Piece is about relations of origin and communication and how it affects ones life. We tried to express it in dance, voice and music.
